Stewart’s look comes after debuting pink hair at the movie’s photocall

Kristen Stewart is stepping onto the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival for the first time as a director.
On Friday, May 16, Stewart, 35, celebrated the premiere of The Chronology of Water, her directorial debut.
For the event, Stewart wore a bright white satin suit jacket paired with matching high-waisted Bermuda shorts. The Oscar nominee’s midriff showed beneath her unbuttoned translucent white Oxford shirt and black tie. She accessorized with a satin white baseball cap, a pair of black open-toe heels, and white mid-calf socks.
Her platinum blonde hair was styled in loose waves, displaying her bright pink tips. Meanwhile, her makeup was simple, with a deep black eyeliner, a shimmering silver eye shadow and a nude matte lipstick.

Earlier in the day, Stewart attended the movie’s photocall in the afternoon and wore a look from Chanel’s fall 2025 collection for the event. Her look consisted of a bubblegum pink tweed top with a sheer ruffle overlay detail.
For a cool-girl touch, Stewart wore the top with just one button fastened to show a hint of skin and paired the top with matching shorts. The shorts featured the same pink tweed fabric and continued the sheer elements with a maxi skirt overlay with a ruffled hem.

The actress completed the look with pink peep-toe heels but later swapped to comfortable white sneakers after the event. The Cannes Film Festival notably updated its dress code rules on May 13, which bans sneakers from being worn on the red carpet and at any related festival events.

Thephotocall also saw Stewart debut a new hair color: ombré pink added to the ends of her platinum blonde hair.
The Chronology of Water marks Stewart’s feature film directorial debut. The plot follows character Lidia Yuknavitch (Imogen Poots) as she finds her voice through written word and her love of swimming; her passion for the hobbies leads her to become a teacher, mother and writer.
Thora Birch, Earl Cave, Michael Epp, Susannah Flood, Kim Gordon, Jim Belushi, Julienne Restall and Tom Sturridge also star.
Of her directorial debut, Stewart told The Hollywood Reporter that she wants the movie to “crash and burn, but in a way that feels correct” ahead of its premiere.

The Twilight alum also revealed that she “cannot believe” that she got the movie into the film festival.
“There’s not a more eloquent way [to say it]. We barely finished this movie. It’s not even done,” Stewart admitted. “I need to come home and literally have two more weeks in color and sound. This is my f—— first draft.”
