50 CENT ANNOUNCES TV CHANNEL EXPANSION

50 Cent has announced that the early success of his eponymous TV channel has led to an expansion in the UK.

Titled 50 Cent Action, the channel, which is available freely in the US, will be a subscription service across the pond.

Speaking to Deadline, 50 said: “You know, everybody loves London. If you’re from New York, or you’re a recording artist from America in general, the first stop and your first dose of international love is London.”

He added: “My audience, my core audience – the people that were enjoying my music in the very beginning – is at home. They’re older. They’ll understand the entertainment choices that I make creatively. I’ve used music to merge with entertainment.

“Being able to launch out here [in the UK] is big because I have a huge audience here that hasn’t been able to participate with us. Now they get a chance to see it.”

The channel is now available for UK customers for the price of £3.99 a month.

50 Cent Action features a number of films featuring the rapper including Righteous Kill, The Expendables 4 and 13.

It also includes curated programming from the rapper and actor, making use of Lionsgate’s library of over 1,000 movies and TV shows such as 50’s own Power franchise.

Despite only launching in December, 50 has been celebrating the early success of the channel.

“My @50centaction channel ranked in the top 5% out of more than 500 channels on Roku I got more coming for you today bringing this channel everywhere stay tuned!” he wrote on Instagram in April.

50 Cent is also to expand his already vast business empire with a new sports and entertainment venue in Shreveport, Louisiana.

50, who is already leasing a huge film and TV studio in the city, was given the go-ahead earlier this year for his new venture at a Shreveport City Council meeting.

The rapper and businessman will take out a decades-long lease on the Stageworks building, with the plan to turn it into a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment venue.

The venue will undergo a partial renovation so that it can host basketball, volleyball, boxing and MMA events, as well as concerts, car shows and conventions.

50 has been granted a 30-year lease on the building which can be extended by another 15 years, with his G-Unit Films & Television company paying a rent of just $200 per month.
